60th National Film Awards By Directorate of Film Festivals



The 60th National Film Awards ceremony is an upcoming event during which the Directorate of Film Festivals will present its annual National Film Awards to honor the best films of 2012 in the Indian cinema. The ceremony is scheduled for May 3, 2013. The prestigious 60th National Film Awards for the year 2012 were announced in New Delhi in a joint Press Conference addressed by the Chairpersons of the three juries, Shri Basu Chatterjee for Feature Films, Ms. Aruna Raje for Non-Feature Films and Shri Swapan Mullick for Best Writing on Cinema on Monday (18th March 2013). The top honour in the feature film category goes to Paan Singh Tomar (Hindi) produced by UTV Software communications Ltd. and directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia . In non-feature film category, the top honour Best Film goes to Shepherds of Paradise (Gojri & Urdu) produced and directed by Raja Shabir Khan. In Best Writing on Cinema section, the book Silent Cinema in India – A Pictorial Journey (English) written by B.D. Garga and published by Harper Collins Publisher India has bagged the top honour, whereas Shri P.S. Radhakrishnan has been declared the Best film Critic.

In the Feature Film category a total of 38 films from 14 languages have been selected for the 60th National Awards in 14 languages.
Best feature film - Paan Singh Tomar (Hindi) , directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and produced by UTV Software communications Ltd.
Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director - Chittagong (Hindi) and 101 Chodiyangal (Malayalam)
Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film On National Integration- Thanichalla Njan (Malayalam)- Directed by Babu Thiruvalla and Produced by Cherian Philippose.

Best Popular Film- Vicky Donor (Hindi) and Ustad Hotel (Malayalam)

Best Animation Film - Delhi Safari- Directed By Nikhil Advani
Best Film on Social Issues- Spirit

Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservatio- Black Forest

Best Supporting Actor- Annu Kapoor for Vicky Donor (Hindi)
Best Supporting Actress- Dolly Ahluwalia for Vicky Donor (Hindi)

Best Male Playback Singer- Shankar Mahadevan for Bolo Na of Chittagong (Hindi)
Best Female Playback Singer- Arati AnkalikarTikekar for Pale Na Moondon of Samhita (Marathi)

Best Cinematography- Sudheer Palsane and Laboratory Processing: Prasad Studios for KO: YAD
Best Screenplay (Original)- Sujoy Ghosh for Kahaani

Best Screenplay (Adapted)-Bhavesh Mandalia and Umesh Shukla for OMG - Oh My God
Best Director - Shivaji Lotan Patil for Dhag (Marathi)

Best Actor award - Irrfaan  for title in Paan Singh Tomar and Vikram Gokhale for Anumati (Marathi)
Best Actress - Usha Jadhav for Dhag (Marathi)

Special Jury award - Rituparno Ghosh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
The Best Child Artist - Virendra Pratap for Dekh Indian Circus (Hindi) and Minon for 101 Chodiyangal (Malayalam).

 Non-Feature Film category
Best Non-Feature Film- Shepherds of Paradise (Gojri & Urdu) produced and directed by Raja Shabir Khan
Best Director - Vikrant Pawar  for the film Kaatal (Marathi).

Best Debut Film of a Director:
Lipika Singh Darai for the film Eka Gachha Eka Manisa Eka Samudra (Odia),

Shumona Goel and Shai Heredia for the film I Am Micro (English)
Special Jury Award - Vasudah Joshi for Cancer Katha (English)

Best Environmental film - Timbaktu (English)
