The sizzling IPL cricket might not be that comfortable for Indian cricketers as players fee might get reduced in 2011. Lot many Indian cricketers have objected to a clause in their IPL contract which denies them 20 percent of their fees in case their team fails to finish among the top 3.
Players from 10 IPL teams read the newly-introduced fine print in their contracts only after the 8 and 9th of auction in Jan. Even though they might have got huge cash-rich contracts, this clause might not be giving them good sleeps at night. They all have decided to collectively approached BCCI president Shashank Manohar with their complaint.
As expected, the meeting was vivacious. One senior player said, “At the auction the entire world saw what we were supposed to get but that was not the case when we read the contract. Twenty20 cricket is highly unpredictable and even if we give our best, things can change. One bad game can see us lose 20% of what we are supposed to get.”
